DO NOT sleep on this escape room!
Nestled in a small business park off St. John’s Bluff Road (in between Five Star Pizza and Johnny Angel’s Diner), Prototype promises to be one of the better experiences you will have.
I have “escaped” two of the three escape rooms they currently have – a 4th room is currently in development – and both of the rooms that my group and I finished have been very fun, albeit somewhat challenging. Joe (the owner) and our game master Morgan are both escape room enthusiasts themselves and have taken great care in providing an excellent experience, with teamwork being absolutely necessary for us to complete the room successfully. They’re also some of the most personable folks, and I enjoyed sharing escape room experience stories with them as well.
As I continue to do more escape rooms, I find that I am becoming more particular when it comes to what I want and expect, so it’s great to know that there’s a spot like Prototype Escape Games to satiate that need. Will definitely be back for the other two rooms!”

“So much fun. There were 5 of us (all adults & all have done escape rooms before). We did “Locker Room” on Sunday, 26SEP2021. We will definitely be back. This was our first visit to Prototype. Recently opened (this year).
The staff is professional & courteous. The prices are reasonable. There is a military discount but can’t apply online when booking a room (understandable). Staff will gladly authorize a credit after seeing a military ID (one per group is all that’s needed).
Plenty of parking. No phones allowed (there are free lockers for use of personal belongings). Definitely need more than 2 people to do a room. The more the better. Allow at least 90 minutes per visit. The room is a 60-minute max but there’s a pre-brief (safety & rules) then a scenario brief for the particular room. Afterward, always allow time for picture-taking & discussion with staff.”

“Wow what an amazing experience! We went for my friend’s birthday and did the Blackout room. Not only did the owner and creator Joe welcome us with an awesome friendly intro on what to expect, he was our room master as well and completely made our night. He was funny and super helpful. You can tell he takes pride in what he built down to the very last detail. Very original and you can tell he genuinely enjoys it. The room was so much fun and we made it with some time to spare. We will be returning very soon!”

“Prototype was an amazing surprise experience! We are experienced escape game enthusiasts from California and were in town visiting family and decided to hit up a local escape game for some fun. We played both of the games that they had and ended up getting asked to help Beta a new one. All of them were amazing. Puzzle design and reveals were on point! Unique playthrough, great storytelling.
It is always nice to play a game that the owners and designers love what they do and it shines through in their rooms. Joe and Jenna were great and awesome hosts. Strongly recommend if you are in the area and looking for a quality experience”

“We played Blackout and it was probably the best room we’ve played (have played right around 20 rooms)! Extremely well thought out and unique. All puzzles made sense and were just difficult enough without being frustratingly hard. The owner and staff were super nice as well. All around great experience, we’ll be back next time we’re in Jax!!”

“We had such a good time in the Locker Room. As escape enthusiasts, we’ve seen really great rooms, and we’re excited that Prototype has joined their ranks. Not only is the decor top-notch, in good condition, and beautifully done, but the combination of physical locks and tech is well-balanced. They have some tech that I’ve never seen elsewhere! The puzzles are challenging but logical and there is plenty to do. Their customer service is in perfect unison with their awesomeness of their rooms. Our hostess, Jenna, was incredibly hospitable. She was also our game master and provided just the right amount of help, nudging us along as needed but not holding our hand or walking us through the whole room. It is obvious that Joe and Jenna have put a lot of effort into their rooms and have a true appreciation for the art of escape rooms. It is impressive how much they’ve accomplished in such a short time. Can’t wait to see big things from this company!!!”
