JOBS
We are always looking for motivated individuals to join our team!
Pay: $14/hr (scheduled shifts) | $16/hr (on-call shifts)
Job Type: Part-time (Weekends + optional weekday on-call)
The Gig
We’re looking for someone who genuinely loves escape rooms. Not just “has done a few,” but someone who seeks them out, plays them for fun, and gets excited talking about them.
You’d be joining our small team as a Game Master, which at Prototype means you do it all: running games from behind the microphone, acting/improvising inside the games, greeting guests and building rapport before they play, facilitating waivers and payment, providing hints when players need them, resetting rooms between games, and keeping the facility in shape.
Schedule
We need someone who can commit to weekends:
- Friday evenings
- Saturdays from 2:30 PM to close
- Sundays from open to early evening
That’s roughly 20 hours per week. I (the owner) handle Monday through Thursday, but I’d love someone willing to take on-call shifts during the week. On-call means you’d get an email when a booking comes in. If you’re available, you come in and run it at the higher $16/hr rate. It’s not guaranteed hours, but it’s there if you want it.
What We’re Looking For
The most important thing is that you’re comfortable talking to people. Not just “can do it when required” comfortable, but actually comfortable. You’ll be chatting with guests before their game to get to know them because how you run a game for first-timers is completely different from how you’d run it for someone who’s played 200+ rooms. Reading people and adapting on the fly is the job.
You should be:
- An escape room enthusiast with real experience playing rooms (bonus if you’ve played one of ours)
- Naturally outgoing and able to hold a conversation with strangers
- Comfortable speaking to groups, sometimes large ones
- Able to juggle multiple responsibilities and stay composed when things get busy
- Physically able to work on ladders safely
Previous experience in customer service, hospitality, or entertainment is great but not required. If this is your first job and you fit the profile, we’ll train you.
The Fine Print
- Must be 18 or older (we may consider younger candidates with parental support and the required Florida work permits, but only for truly standout applicants)
- Must pass a background check and drug screening
- Indoor work environment
- Hours fluctuate seasonally
Perks
- Employee discount
- Referral program
- You get to work in escape rooms (honestly the best part)
